The term 'hack' is being used a lot lately. While it used to have a negative connotation, these days to 'hack' means to find a quicker, easier and more effective method for achieving a goal.
Fat loss hacks are ways of doing everyday things, like eating, in a way that promotes fat loss and blocks fat storage.
Sounds pretty awesome, right? Here are 6 very effective fat loss hacks battle tested by Team Mammoth that you can put into practice this week.
Fat Loss Hack #1: Cauliflower Rice
If you're in a low carb phase on your nutrition program, try eating shredded, sautéed cauliflower as rice, rather than traditional brown or white rice. This simple hack will save you a ton of calories per meal and will leave you no less satisfied. You can even add your favorite spices and flavor additions as you would do with traditional rice.
Fat Loss Hack #2: Vegetable Noodles
There are many ways to create and enjoy noodles made from vegetables, rather than noodles made from grains like wheat. The best and quickest way is to use a spiral slicer to turn zucchini or butternut squash into noodles. You can also bake spaghetti squash and scrape out those nature-made noodles; or simply use a traditional veggie peeler to create long noodle strips from zucchini.
Fat Loss Hack #3: Kale Wrapped
Replace foods like sliced bread and buns for large pieces of kale to wrap your grass-fed beef, free-range turkey or wild-caught salmon. Kale is a powerhouse vegetable that is loaded with micronutrients like Vitamin C. Once you get used to the crunchy taste of kale you might even enjoy your new style of sandwich or burger even more than the traditional way (ok - that might be a stretch)!
Fat Loss Hack #4: Protein Powder
Did you know that protein powder can be used in many recipes to increase the protein and reduce the carbs? Simply replace a portion of the flour in your pancakes with high quality protein powder such as Mammoth Whey and you’ll see how delicious it tastes. Your newly hacked high-protein pancakes will easily fit into a fat loss nutrition plan.
Fat Loss Hack #5: Coconut Oil
Replace the pro-inflammatory vegetable oils (i.e canola oil) in your kitchen with coconut oil, and enjoy benefits such as increased energy expenditure and fat loss. A large percentage of the fat in coconut oil is MCTs (medium chain triglycerides), which are sent to the liver and quickly converted into energy. Coconut oil is also extremely healthy for you. The lauric acid in coconut oil is anti-viral and anti-bacterial, which means it can help to prevent infections.
Fat Loss Hack #6: Apple Cider Vinegar
One of the simplest and easiest ways to control appetite, keep blood sugar levels stable and support fat loss is by adding apple cider vinegar to your diet. A clinical study showed that vinegar consumption can improve insulin sensitivity, while a separate study showed that vinegar consumption led to reduced belly fat and waist circumference! Start by adding a tablespoon per day to your diet.
